Algorithm
Algorithm can be defined as a finite set of instructions that operate on a finite set of symbols and can be, at least theoretically, implemented on some mechanism. As this implies, a set of steps that might never end is not an algorithm. In mathematics and computer science, an algorithm usually means a small procedure that solves a recurrent problem.
