Limited or No Credit History

Credit card for people with limited or no credit history.
A "thin file" is another term for a person with no credit history. Even though such a person should be considered a good risk (most people are) until shown to be otherwise, the banks behave differently. They consider that as they know nothing at all about you, it is cheaper for them to expect and plan for the worst, and usually be wrong, than to assume the best and occasionally be wrong; expensive, but not cripplingly so. Given that this is how the banks operate, a thin file will have to be fattened up if its yours and you are seeking a credit card. The easiest way to show you can handle credit is with a secured loan against one of your assets, or more. If you pay this off responsibly, your file will gain a little weight, and another party may grow brave enough to lend you some money either as a personal loan or by extending credit in the form of a secured, or unsecured credit card.
